I was on such a good writing streak; I can’t believe it’s been 6 weeks since I’ve written. This past month and a half has been very busy.
It started with a call that two kiddos needed a placement that afternoon. We were prepared for a placement, but not that quickly. Work has also been demanding as we have been preparing for state testing. I’ve simply been too overwhelmed or busy to write. I have had two drafts of posts, but I just never got around to completing them.
The next month is likely to also be busy, so my goal is write at least twice between now and the end of the school year.
However, so many people have come together to give the kids a really fun time over the past few weeks.
Our Church Family
Right after we got our most recent placement, I got a message from the children’s minister at our church who asked if she should provide Sunday School materials for our kids in Spanish.
Then one of the Sunday school teachers played soccer with our kids after their lesson was over.
The next week we had a church picnic, and the kids had the time of their lives. They played soccer, baseball, and more. Someone even rented a bouncy house, and the kids jumped in it for hours.
A couple from church bought us an extra freezer, and so many people have given us foods to fill our freezer. And some things have been unexpected hits. One friend made banana bread. I didn’t expect the kids to like it because they had been a bit picky, but they loved it. They told me that they had a similar bread at home.
Joshua’s Family
We had such an amazing Easter with Joshua’s family. Joshua’s dad gave us rolls of quarters so that we could put quarters in Easter eggs for the kids to find. Joshua’s brothers helped hide Easter eggs. Joshua’s sister bought giant Easter baskets with candy and a soccer ball for the kids . A family friend played chess with the kiddos and even ordered books about chess for them.
We could not do this without all the people we have around us supporting us. Thank you for supporting us. Even if all you’re doing is reading this substack, that is a huge encouragement. It is so good to know that you are following our adventures and going through the highs and lows of foster parenting with us.
The way your church family blesses you blesses us in turn. Love you.
Thank you for writing and sharing!
